Franki Group (UK) has appointed John Theos as Managing Director, with plans to expand its specialist piling and ground improvement capabilities across the UK construction sector.

Theos took up the position on 1 October 2026, bringing extensive experience in geotechnical engineering, ground improvement and business leadership.

He will oversee the development of Franki Foundations and Martello Piling, focusing on technical investment, new client relationships and opportunities across additional markets.

Investment in specialist piling capabilities

Martello Piling is continuing to invest in its restricted-headroom fleet, introducing technologies intended to improve productivity, reliability and performance on constrained construction sites.

The business, which introduced its specialist Martello Method to the UK in 2002, will also target major infrastructure and civil engineering projects through its large-diameter rotary and continuous flight auger (CFA) piling capabilities.

Expanding ground improvement services

Franki Foundations will build on its established residential CFA piling operations while extending its services across the wider ground improvement market.

The strategy will also encourage greater collaboration between the two businesses, combining their specialist capabilities where appropriate.

Gavin Hunt, Group Chief Development Officer at Statom Group, said:

“We have an ambitious vision for the future of Franki and Martello. We want to build on the considerable expertise and reputation that already exists within both businesses, whilst investing in technology, innovation and our people.”
